Show Results

The 2009/10 show season started and ended with some very pleasing results.

The NSW All Welsh being first up in October with Cherrington Spring Rain winning the large yearling B filly class from a strong field and Cherrington Pia being sashed 2nd in the 3 year old B class. Not to be outdone, Osory Andromeda claimed the novice section B broodmare class and her foal Cherrington Antonia (x Rotherwood Secret Agent Imp UK) was awarded the Supreme Foal Exhibit under judges Ann and Len Bigley from the Llanarth Stud UK.

Cherrington had a brilliant day at the Southern NSW Pony Classic with Cherrington Spring Rain winning the yearling B filly class, Derwyn Jaclyn winning the two year old filly class and Cherrington Pia winning her three year old class with the super moving Derwyn Jaclyn claiming the Champion and Cherrington Pia standing Reserve Champion. Derwyn Jaclyn went to to be named Supreme Welsh B Youngstock under judge Kevin Walker from the Brynoffa Stud UK.

Making her show ring debut, Cherrington Hollyhock was placed third in the two year old B filly class that judge Kerry Wainwright from the Skellorn Stud UK commented 'the class was extremely difficult to judge due to the high quality of  lovely fillies'.

John was extremely fortunate to judge both the Welsh and Part Welsh at Canberra Royal in February and attend as a presenter of awards for the Welsh at Sydney Royal in April. We look forward to continuing our support of both Royals next year.

Cherrington Pirouette finished the season by being awarded Supreme Foal from huge entries at the Morongla Foal and Youngstock show in May.

Several ponies have been successful for their new owners and we congratulate you all and look forward to receiving any updates that come through.

Pony Moves

Unfortunately the need to reduce numbers has seen several lovely ponies leave Cherrington for new homes. The tough decision was made and the sensational stallion Bamborough Ambassador [opposite] was sold and made a safe arrival in New Zealand early in 2010. Several influential mares and a handful of youngstock have all found new homes in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.

Cherrington Mozart has been leased to Jenny and Wesley Gardiner of Karanga Pony Stud in Victoria. Mozart made the journey south in May and reports are he has settled in very well.

The Coming Season

Preparations are coming along well for the gorgeous Cherrington Octavia to make her long awaited ridden show ring debut in spring. Octivia was shown with enormous success as a filly, so we eagerly await some early results.

With final decisions yet to be made regarding what will be shown this coming season, it is slowly shaping up to be a busy season with several Agriculture, Welsh, Youngstock and Horse of the Year events planned.

With 12 foals due this season, most will be for sale, in addition to a select number of mares. Please contact us for more details.

Vale Edeavale Wild Peach

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of another great mare Edaevale Wild Peach. Peach was found deceased in the paddock 16 February 2008.

Peach was sired by the lovely Imp UKort Coed Coch Llabled, now deceased. Her dam line carried an equally as Imp UKressive pedigree having both Coed Coch Derwas Imp UK and Ratheway Wishing Well Imp UK to compliment this lovely mare.

She enjoyed great success in the showring being a Royal and All Welsh Supreme Champion as a broodmare. Although, much preferring to be out in the paddock, she was always happy to see you and was a pleasure to have around, be it in the stable or paddock.

Her last foal Cherrington Pia (x Cherrington Mozart) although recently sold will return to join our broodmares in a few years time.

She had big expressive eyes, the most gorgeous feminine head together with good clean limbs, a well-rounded hindquarter and a temperament second to none. A pony that certainly captured our hearts and one that will be deeply missed.
